Nirmal Jeevan Charitable Trust (NJCT) being a grass root level Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in the district of Raigad, Maharashtra is making a difference in the life of the vulnerable people through the outstanding activities in Kamothe and Kalamboli area during this lockdown. This Organisation ever since its inception has been engaged in the development of the poor irrespective of caste, creed and religion and the main areas of intervention are Health, Education and Women empowerment. “In the current Scenario, the underprivileged group of the society are suffering badly due to lockdown. NJCT has been extending its hand to the unreached pockets for the survival of poor lives. The Organisation is providing essential food products in a time frame of every two weeks to more than 130 families on a regular basis through the help of local donors. This Covid relief work began from the month of April and it has been continued till the month of October. The Beneficiaries include Rag pickers, Domestic Workers, Street Children. Construction Workers and others. The Beneficiaries were also provided Medical Services and immunity boosting food items, especially for children. A volunteer shared, “My involvement in NJCT as enriched my life, I help them out now with distribution of food kits in different pockets of Kalamboli and Kamothe. The fear of being affected by Covid exists within me and my family; still I cannot stop myself from helping the poor”.
