Dedicated Volunteer (Kal Ki Chaaya)
“Voluntary social work is something I always dreamt of getting into, but paucity of time prevented me from doing so while in a full-time corporate role. After opting for VRS, I consider myself genuinely lucky to be associated with Project Kal Ki Chaaya of Nirmal Jeevan Charitable Trust.
This is a unique sanctuary where, alongside education, children of street scrap pickers and vegetable sellers learn moral values, hygiene, art, and athletics. The Sisters who run this centre believe in overall grooming. In just two months, there was a visible transformation: children eagerly wash their hands with soap before meals, conduct prayers, and show incredible talent in art and craft.
At the 5.5 km Kamothe marathon, our children finished ahead of many others—some running bare feet with infectious energy! Sr. Rini, Sr. Paulina, and the team pour selfless dedication each day. With Kal Ki Chaaya, I have truly found a profound purpose in life.”
Youth & Community Volunteer
“‘Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together makes this world a beautiful garden.’ My experience at Nirmal Jeevan was an enchanting journey that sparked a lifelong change within me.
Spending time with the children taught me that true talent and responsibility exist in every child, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Each child is wonderfully unique. They reminded me of Mother Teresa's timeless truth: ‘Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.’
When you interact with young children who maintain joyful dreams despite having almost nothing material, it humbles you to the core. I am deeply thankful to Nirmal Jeevan for this life-affirming experience.”
